Excellent Quality, Extraordinary Temperament

Who Are They?  Crystal Glen Alpacas is owned by Jay and Laurie Sue Bakay, of Hewitt NJ. Their story is common in the alpaca community. Laurie was attracted to the beautiful yarn her sister was using and they started surfing the net, a lot. After almost a year of browsing sites and going to shearing day and alpaca festivals and farm visits some decisions were made. Jay wasn't totally sold on the idea but supported Laurie and told her to go ahead and get one, so they bought four. Shortly after that Laurie's sister bought one also.

When not working for their kitchen and bath cabinetry business, Astorloid, Inc., or Paws In Harmony, which offers support modalities that complement dog training, Laurie can be found at Rosehaven, just sitting in the pasture observing them or training the young male alpacas in their paddock which Jay has produced agility type equipment for to practice obstacle training on.

Jay has become extremely devoted to planning the barn and pasture layout. He can be found roaming around at alpaca shows asking questions and gathering all the information he can from the valuable experiences of others and regularly going to Bear Creek to oversee the progress there and talk to local alpaca breeders in the area.

Where Are They?  As of now the Crystal Glen Alpacas herd is proudly agisting at Rosehaven Alpacas, in Callicoon NY a little drive northwest of the Bakay home. The farm will be located on 16 acres of rolling greenery in Bear Creek NC. Five acres have been cleared and out building construction is planned to begin shortly.
